The theme chosen for this year by ICOM is “Museums for Education and
Research”In the context of the International Museum Day 2024, the Mauritius Museums
Council under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage in
collaboration with Artist Mr Suren Seeruttun has put on display an oil painting
exhibition on “Modern Impressionism – Plein Air Painting” at the Exhibition
Gallery of the Natural History Museum, Chaussée, Port louis. The Exhibition was
inaugurated by Hon. Avinash Teeluck, Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage on
16 May 2024. The Exhibition is opened to visitors till 15th of June
2024
On the same occasion, the Mauritius Museums Council has also mounted another exhibition on an educational kit entitled “ Slavery and its abolition in Mauritius” at the National History Museum, Mahebourg. This educational kit exhibition comprises of 13 panels describing slavery in Mauritius. The exhibition is opened to visitors till end of August 2024
