The general public is hereby informed that they can experience this new technology “Augmented Reality” at the Natural History Museum , Chaussée, Port Louis during the normal opening hours of the museum.
“The DODO EXPEDITION AR app is all about harnessing the power of Augmented Reality to transport users into the lost world of the extinct Dodo. We all think we know how the Dodo looked, but in “Sir David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive” the legendary naturalist shows us an all-new view of the iconic bird based on the latest scientific research.
This free DODO EXPEDITION AR app, which can be downloaded via Google Play and the App Store prior to visiting the Natural History Museum, invites visitors to participate in and become part of the exhibition by utilising their smartphones to recreate the world of the Dodo through Augmented Reality.
Augmented Reality is regarded as one of the world’s best-emerging technologies that is actively reshaping the museum landscape as it adds a third dimension to displays, bringing objects or scenes to life without having to alter the physical exhibition settings and displays. It is an important step into the future of all forms of education and skills development, utilising emerging technologies that takes advantage of Mauritius’ 5th generation mobile network.
