The Mauritius Museums Council has mounted an exhibition on Battle of Grand Port at the ex-SMEDA kiosks situated in the premises of National History Museum, Mahebourg as from 5 July 2021.
The Battle of grand port (20-27 August 1810) was a naval battle between squadrons of frigates from the French navy and British Royal navy. The battle was closely fought over possession of the harbour of grand port on ILe de France ( now Mauritius) during Napoleonic wars.
