114th Birth Anniversary of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, Father of the Nation

On the occasion of the 114th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, the Mauritius Museums Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Arts and Culture organised the following activities for students of colleges at a national level :
A Painting/Drawing Competition for students of Lower Six and Upper Six classes under the theme – ” SSR – Early age” ;

And a Poem Writing Competition for students of Form I to Form III classes under the theme – ” SSR – A Leader who fought for justice and freedom “.

A Prize Giving ceremony was held at the SSR Memorial Centre for Culture, Plaine Verte on 18 September 2014 and the winners of the competitions received awards as follows:
Drawing/Painting competition-2014

1st Prize: Deviendra LUKKOO, John Kennedy College, Beau Bassin.
2nd Prize: Navishnee Nelini PERMALL, Dunputh Lallah SSS, Curepipe.
3rd Prize: Navesh HAMRITTE, Sookdeo Bissoondoyal State College.

Poem Writing Competition-2014

1st Prize: Aabid Shameem SHAMTAULLY, Royal College Port Louis..
2nd Prize: Hitisha SOOKUR, Rajcoomar Gujadhur SSS, Central Flacq.
3rd Prize: Rinishta GOOKOOL, Forest Side SSS (Girl), Forest Side.
